For nine years, she was into fashion consulting and art direction before switching to event planning.

Their story began after Karuna relocated to Bangalore for a career in wedding and event planning and met Malvika through mutual friends. Both Malvika and Karuna had separate professions for years before they came together to form their company, The Mogra Collective. Malvika worked as a chef in New York till 2011, while Karuna as an art director for nine years.
